Privacy

Cassiopeia is free and collects as little as it can. Most of what it remembers stays in your browser and never reaches us.

Last updated 30 September 2026

Working draft. This describes how Cassiopeia works today, in plain language. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet, and it will be before public launch, especially the parts about younger users, voice and chat.

The short version

You don't need an account. Your sessions, music library, sounds and profile are stored in your browser.

If you choose to sign in, some of that is copied to a database so it follows you between devices.

In a joint session, the people in the room see your display name, hear your voice and read your chat. Nothing from the room is kept after it ends, apart from reports.

No ads, no analytics, no selling data.

Stored in your browser

Your focus history, playlists and queue, favourite tracks, settings, and the name and birth date you enter for the zodiac chart are saved in your browser's local storage.

Recordings you upload to replace a background sound are saved in your browser's IndexedDB storage. They are never uploaded.

None of this is sent to us unless you sign in. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional. You enter your email address and receive a sign-in link. Your email address is stored by Supabase, the database service Cassiopeia uses, to recognise your account.

While you are signed in, your focus sessions, your profile (name and birth date) and your music library (playlists and favourites) are copied to that database so they appear on your other devices. Each account can only read its own data.

The files and recordings on your device are not copied. Only the list of what is in your library is.

There is no delete button in the app yet. To have your account and synced data deleted, contact us (see below) and it will be removed.

Joint sessions

Rooms are for people 16 and over.

To start or join a room, the only thing you provide is a display name. Everyone in the room can see it. No email, account or birth date is needed.

A room holds up to six people and is not listed anywhere. Anyone who has its link or six-character code can join, so share it only with people you want there.

Who is in the room, and the host's playback position and sound mix, are passed between browsers through Supabase Realtime. They are not stored.

A room ends when the host ends it, or after two hours without activity.

Voice

Voice is peer to peer. Your microphone audio goes directly to the other people in the room and is never recorded or stored by Cassiopeia. As in any direct call, the people in the room can see your network (IP) address.

To set up those connections, your browser contacts a public STUN server run by Google, which sees your IP address. On networks that need it, a relay (TURN) server may carry the audio, without recording it.

You always join muted, and your browser asks for microphone permission first. If the host shares audio from their own device, it streams the same way, and everyone can see who is sharing.

Chat and reports

Chat messages pass through our database so that a length limit, a language filter and a rate limit can be enforced. They are deleted when the host ends the room, or after two hours at most.

To send chat, your browser opens an anonymous Supabase session: a random identifier with no name, email or password attached.

If you report a person or a message, the report is kept with a copy of the message and the room code so that a person can review it. Reports are deleted after 30 days.

Other services

YouTube tracks play in YouTube's own embedded player, which is covered by Google's privacy policy. Cassiopeia does not connect to your YouTube or Google account.

Synced accounts and room chat are stored with Supabase. See Supabase's privacy policy.

Fonts are served from Cassiopeia's own site, so opening a page does not contact Google Fonts or any analytics service.

What we do not do

We do not show ads, sell data, run analytics or tracking scripts, or build profiles of the people who use Cassiopeia. If anonymous usage counts are ever added, this page will say so before they are.

Age

Cassiopeia is for people 13 and over. Joint sessions, which put you in voice and chat with other people, are for people 16 and over.

If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian before joining a room with people you don't know, and keep personal details out of your display name.

If you think a child under 13 has given us personal information, write to [email protected]. It will be deleted.

Questions and deletion

For privacy questions, or to have synced data deleted, write to [email protected].

Data stored only in your browser can be removed at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Rooms leave nothing behind except reports.

Changes to this policy

This page will change as Cassiopeia does, especially when sign-in and joint sessions go live or a new service is added. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
